  • Late cancellations (within 30 days of session start date) will receive a 60% refund.
  • No refunds or credits for missed days, including illness-related absences.
  • A $25 processing fee applies for tax documentation and receipt preparation
  • If service cancellation is performed by the Salsa With Silvia studio, a full refund will be issued unless such cancellation is caused by a force majeure such as a war, strike, riot, crime, epidemic or an event described by the legal term act of God, preventing the Studio from fulfilling its obligations under the contract.
  • In the event a child presents symptoms of illness (e.g., fever), we reserve the right to dismiss them to protect other campers and staff. Parents will be promptly notified to arrange pickup. We ask parents to refrain from sending their child/children to camp if they are exhibiting contagious symptoms (e.g., flu, COVID, seasonal colds). No refund or credit will be issued for missing camp days due to illness.

Studio Rules & Camp Dismissal

  • Campers may be dismissed for behavior issues, including disruptive or unsafe conduct, lack of interest, or disregard for camp rules. In such cases, a child can be dismissed after three written warnings for disruptive behavior, no refund / pro-rate will be issued.
  • These apply, but not limited to, the following circumstances: Continuous disruptive and violent behavior, pushing, hitting, spitting, offending other campers, being disrespectful to teachers, staff and other campers, continuously disobeying instructors, trying to stay separated from the group, pulling and playing with curtains, hanging off ballet barres, not following instructions, demonstrating continuous lack of interest for activities offered in the camp, or disturbing and distracting other campers.
  • We want your child to have fun and if they seem not to be interested in the various activities that we offer, then we’ll advise searching other types of camps (sports, etc.).

Dismissal Process

  • We will start by talking to the child and of course talking to the parents/guardians. We will write and give you incident reports. We will dismiss your child from camp after the third written report.

Refunds Due To Dismissal

  • If you receive three warnings and your child is dismissed, we will not pro-rate or refund the rest of the camp enrollment fees.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

While all our Camp counselors are CPR trained, they will require specific instructions on child/children’s delicate medical conditions, which imply using EpiPens, dry powder inhalers, or any other medical device critical to provide first care to your child.

Also, please do communicate if your child has behavioral or other medical conditions. You must email this to juan@salsawithsilvia.com so that we are informed and can take better care of your child.

Be aware that there is no medical advisor or a doctor on-site. For severe emergencies, we will call 911 and contact you (parents) and/or the doctor’s name you provided on your registration form.

We take daily pictures of campers which are shared only with the participant families during a session (over WhatsApp or Google Drive). We occasionally have a professional photographer/videographer taking pictures or videos of our camp activities for promotional purposes, as well. Even though we do not ever share personal information with the photos, you can opt out of photos for media release, and accept only to have photos shared via Whatsapp on the Enrollment Form.
We have at least 2 adults per classroom of 10 to 15 children. All of our educators are certified and are CPR trained. Your child’s safety is our top priority.
No field trips or spray parks are planned for our Bethesda camp but we do try to go outside every day unless it’s too hot. We walk to the nearest parks or library.
We have two classrooms and we designed our camp so that close age ranges are next to each other in case we have siblings in two different age ranges.
YES! We love to have boys in camps. They can dance, create and play just as well as girls!
At our Bethesda location, we go to Caroline Freeland Park located on Elm St. and Arlington Rd or the Elm St Park.
Each child wears our bright orange camp t-shirt. The kids will be accounted for on the way out of our facility and before we head back. We strongly suggest that campers are told in advance that they will be going outdoors and play in the park, to make them aware that they have to pay attention to teachers’ instructions. Safety first!
Styles of the dances we offer and study are depending on the session and age. See descriptions above.

Some of our Bethesda sessions focus on a specific language. The level of the language skills taught during the one week session are basic and conversational.

We are a dance camp but our campers also learn practical skills, languages, and fun facts about different countries, as well as science and math. The level of dance instruction depends on the age range. Younger kids learn though games and fun and older kids (over 10) drill a little more technique and choreography. Everyone ends the week with a fun recital.
Sadly, yes. Our camp has defined rules & policies, and a child can be dismissed after 3 written incident reports for disruptive behavior. If you receive a written report three times, then your child will be dismissed, we will not pro-rate and refund the rest of the camp enrollment fees.
The only requirement for clothing is for our dance activities. Each child should have a pair of ballet slippers that they can leave in their cubby for the duration of their enrollment. Tap shoes are required for the session that has Tap dance focus. We provide the camp orange t-shirts on site and we wash them weekly. Be sure to dress kids season appropriate. We prefer NO flip flops during summer camp, they are not safe. Water shoes are required for spray days.
We start with introductions and we go over the plan for the day. We talk about camp rules and safety. After that we do a dance warm up and outdoor time, followed by snack time and the first dance session for the day. After lunch we do another dance class, then arts, crafts, and games. Intensive courses for older kids are more focused on dance technique but the kids will also have time for fun activities and learning.
NO, we never do that. Snack is distributed for each kid separately.
We use an app called ProCare. You will be provided your own personal pin code. You will use the code upon drop off and pick up. In addition, you can also join the WhatsApp chat group that we will create per session, for you to receive messages, updates and photos from us.
Preparing tax documentation requires administrative time and resources to ensure accuracy and compliance. The $25 processing fee covers the effort involved in generating detailed receipts and necessary paperwork for tax purposes. This helps us continue providing our community and families with a wonderful camp program!
