At the Salsa With Silvia dance studio, we believe that dance inspires creativity and teaches children to be outgoing and unafraid of standing out. Participation in recitals is not only exciting for parents and family, but it gives children a great confidence boost and lifetime skills.

EVENT DETAILS

Date & Times

Event date: Sunday, June 9, 2019

Arrival time and performer drop off: by 1pm the latest

Dress rehearsal: 1:30 – 2:30pm. WEAR COSTUMES!

Break & light snack: 2:30 – 3:00pm. DO NOT BRING SNACKS. WATER BOTTLE ONLY!

Show time: 3:30pm – 4:30pm. Audience will be admitted into the auditorium between 2:45pm and 3:20pm.

Entrance: The first main entrance on your left as you enter the parking lot.

Parking: Parking is available on site but limited. Arrive early!

Dress Rehearsal Logistics & Rules

ARRIVAL & DROP OFF: Arrive by 1pm and DROP OFF your child at the designated classroom (signs with class name and teacher name will be placed on each prep room). ONLY ONE ADULT SHOULD DROP OFF for dress rehearsal. Performers will be checked in an and placed under the supervision of the class moms (two volunteer moms per classroom). Parents are not allowed in the dressing rooms after the children have been checked in for the recital. During dress rehearsal, parents/guardians can stay at the building’s library or leave and come back for the show. 

PERFORMERS SHOULD ARRIVE DRESSED IN COSTUME.

Performers should have a GOOD MEAL PRIOR TO ARRIVAL. In light of possible allergies, we will provide ONLY gold fish for snack. No other snacks will be allowed! Bring only a labeled water bottle.

NO PARENTS/GUARDIANS/AUDIENCE WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE AUDITORIUM DURING DRESS REHEARSAL!

Dressing Room Etiquette

Performers must respect each other’s space and property in the dressing rooms. Coloring books and legos will be provided for the performers to do some activities while in the dressing rooms. No food is allowed in the dressing rooms. Bring ONLY a water bottle for your child. We will provide gold fish for snack.

Students are welcome to bring something to do while they wait. Please do not send crayons, markers, pens or anything else that could ark or stain the costumes.

Please refrain from sending valuable items, as we will not be responsible for any loss.  This includes cell phones, iPods, tablets, etc.

Audience Etiquette

All audience will be let in through the front entrance of the auditorium (located by the stage). All audience must have taken their seats no later than 3:20pm. Late arrivals will be directed to the back entrance of the auditorium and will have to watch the show from the back of the auditorium to avoid disruption. Exiting the auditorium during the show will not be permitted unless an emergency. Exiting the auditorium during the show will be allowed only through the back entrance.

Enthusiastic applause is encouraged; however, we ask that you don’t raise your voice to call your child’s name during a performance.

No cell phone use allowed during the show. The light from these devices is very distracting to other audience members.

Because we present a professional performance, we ask that everyone remain seated during the entire performance. Allowing children to run round or otherwise disrupt the show is not fair to other audience members.

Backstage Rules & Etiquette

Family members and friends are not permitted backstage or in the dressing rooms during dress rehearsals or the recital. During dress rehearsal, parents/guardians can stay at the building’s library or leave and come back for the show.

Students will remain backstage for the duration of the entire recital, and no performing students will be allowed in the audience at any time. After the finale, students will be checked out from the prep classrooms to their parent/guardian. Performers will receive their graduation certificates when they return to their prep classroom after they have performed.

In addition to getting TWO FREE RECITAL TICKETS AND AN AWESOME 10% DISCOUNT FOR NEXT SEMESTER, you also get to feel great about helping us keep this wonderful event under control, ensure the kids safety and meet their needs while getting ready to go on stage.

Submit your volunteer application and claim your free tickets by April 10th

Once you get your volunteer approval email, we will also send you a seating chart and you can tell us which three seats to reserve for your family/friends.

ALL VOLUNTEER MOMS SPOTS ARE FILLED AT THIS POINT. However, feel free to fill out the application and we’ll let you know if a spot has opened.

What do you need to know?

You will be required to participate in 2 pre-recital meetings to go over logistics and responsibilities. You will not be allowed to bring additional guests or your kids with you while volunteering. You will be able to watch your child(ren) perform but you will be standing up by the stage while they perform.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Check in children and do your best to memorize their names.
  • Continuously keep track of head count.
  • One of the two volunteer moms will be with a group of children when that group is lined up to go up on stage.
  • Monitor the activities of the children while in prep room. You are welcome to bring some activities too.
  • Make sure the kids are safe at all times.
  • Ensure the order in the prep room and that rules are being followed.
  • Help organize children when ready to go up on stage line up.
  • One of the two volunteer moms will be checking kids in when returning to prep room after their performance.
  • Distribute gold fish snack and making sure no other food is being eaten or exchanged.
  • Assist children with costume fixes and bathroom trips.
  • Engage the kids in simple warm up exercises prior to going on stage.
  • Distribute graduation certificates after the kids are back from stage.

COSTUME CARE, HAIR, MAKE UP, ACCESSORIES

Costume Care

We recommend that you label all costumes shoes, accessories and tights with your child’s name. Place the costume in a garment bag with your child’s name to be ready for recital day. Do not wash the costumes in your washing machine or iron any costumes.

Tights and Shoes

To ensure that there are no discrepancies in color and style, students are required to have the same tights and shoes as their classmates. Be sure to purchase the correct style. Information about the requirements for tights and shoes color will be handed to you along with your costume.

Hair and Makeup

All students are required to wear makeup for the recital. It should be applied prior to dress rehearsal. Information about the requirements for make up will be handed to you along with your costume. Uniform hairstyles are required to each class. All students must wear their hair pulled away from their face. Additional information about the requirements for hair will be handed to you along with your costume.

Planning

Gather all costumes, accessories, shoes and makeup several days in advance so you’ll know if something is missing or isn’t right. No food or drink allowed near the costumes! Please do not send your child with snacks. Only water bottle allowed. No food or drinks are permitted in prep classrooms, our event is short enough that if they eat before, they will be ok.
